Teaching Fellow with expertise in Product Design and Development
About the role
The Dyson School of Design Engineering is seeking a Teaching Fellow with expertise in Product Design and Development to join its dynamic teaching team. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and ongoing enhancement of our Learning and Teaching (L&T) activities across the MEng in Design Engineering and MSc programmes. This varied role includes teaching, tutoring, module and curriculum development, and supporting student-led projects across a range of modules.
What you would be doing
Key responsibilities include developing and delivering educational content, tutoring, and mentoring students, contributing to collaborative teaching practices, and managing student progress and module information within virtual learning environments (VLEs).
What we are looking for
Expertise in Product Design and Development, spanning the full lifecycle from initial concept to validated, market-ready solutions. The ideal candidate will combine an understanding of design principles, engineering practices, materials, manufacturing processes, and user experience, with knowledge of commercial viability and product strategy. Proficiency in both hardware and software is highly desirable, enabling them to guide students in developing integrated digital-physical prototypes. The candidate will also be responsible for embedding Health & Safety practices and relevant Product Compliance standards into student projects, ensuring a culture of safe and responsible innovation.

The role is full-time and a fixed-term contract for 18 months. Subject to available funding, this role may be extended for up to three months.
