Position title: Teaching Fellow Salary range: See Table 18 for the salary range for this position. Salary is based on an annual full-time salary of $83,941. Teaching Fellows will not be appointed for more than 50% time during the Fall & Spring semesters. Percent time: 25% - 50%

Up to 100% in summer session only Anticipated start: Summer 2026 - May 17, 2026
Fall 2026 - August 15, 2026
Spring 2027 - January 1, 2027 Position duration: Duration may be up to one semester or a summer term

Position description
The School of Engineering anticipates hiring Teaching Fellows for lower- and upper-division courses for Academic Year 2026-2027, including Summer Session 2026, in the following disciplines:
Electrical Engineering
Engineering Fundamentals (courses may include the following: Introduction to Materials, Statics and Dynamics, Circuit Theory, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Spatial Analysis, Information Systems, etc.)
Under supervision of a faculty member, the Teaching Fellow will be responsible for leading instruction of a course. Additional duties may include grading, leading discussion sections when appropriate and holding office hours. Qualifications
Basic qualifications
- Advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
- Maintenance of a qualifying grade point average
- Academically eligible to hold the appointment (as outlined in the Graduate Policies and Procedures Handbook)
- Must be a registered UC Merced graduate student in full-time residence (registered for 12 units per term appointed; for summer appointment registered in 12 units in the previous term)
- Must have passed an Oral English Proficiency Examination (if applicable)
Additional qualifications
Teaching Fellows must be advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
