Teaching Fellow in Engineering Design and Manufacturing
About the Role
This role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced academic or industry practitioner to contribute to the delivery of Engineering Design and Manufacturing education within WMG.
The successful candidate will provide subject-specialist teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supporting student learning through innovative teaching, assessment, project supervision, and industry-informed practice. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to curriculum development, student support, and wider WMG activities.
The postholder will join a collaborative academic community committed to excellence in teaching, professional development, and enhancing the student experience.
About You
The ideal candidate will have experience of teaching and/or practising Engineering Design and Manufacturing, with expertise in design methodologies, CAD software, product development, and the translation of digital designs into manufactured products. Experience in areas such as design for manufacture and assembly (DfMA), prototyping, manufacturing processes, digital manufacturing, and industry-standard design tools would be highly desirable.

The role requires a commitment to delivering practice-based learning that reflects current industrial design and manufacturing practices.
Candidates will need to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and support students from diverse backgrounds. Strong organisational skills, effective time management, and the ability to manage a varied portfolio of teaching, assessment, project supervision, and administrative responsibilities are essential.
