Job Duties
The School of Social Work (SW) at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a nine-month, fixed-term (non-tenure track) faculty appointment beginning August 2027.
The position will be expected to:
- Provide essential instructional capacity for required BSW and MSW courses, student advising, field education, curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation activities.
- Provide additional instructional capacity to address ongoing MSW enrollment growth, particularly within the online program.
- Provide meaningful service to the profession, university, and broader community.
- Foster a collegial, collaborative, and supportive environment through effective engagement with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
Minimum Education/Experience
- A Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited program.
- A minimum of two years of post-Master of Social Work degree practice experience. Experience may include direct clinical practice, community-based practice, policy, administration, or other professional social work practice relevant to the position.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- A PhD or DSW in Social Work or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution is required.
- 5 years of post-Master of Social Work degree practice experience.
- Teaching experience in social work or a related discipline in higher education, including online, hybrid, or in-person formats.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in social work education, and/or curriculum development.
- Experience working with rural populations and communities.
- Evidence of scholarship or professional engagement in social work or a related field.
- Experience contributing to program assessment, student advising, or other activities that support student success.
- Ability to contribute to the School of Social Work's teaching, service, and community-engagement missions.
- Demonstrated ability to teach social work courses and support student learning at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
