The Department of Human Development and Family Science prepares students to support individuals, families, and communities through education, research, and professional practice in human development and family services.
Job Duties:
The Department of Human Development and Family Science (HDFS) at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a nine-month, fixed-term (non-tenure track) faculty appointment beginning August 2027.
The position will be expected to:
- Teach primarily within the B.S. in Family and Community Services program area. Courses may address topics related to family science, early childhood, family life education, child and youth development, community education, and related areas.
- Providing meaningful service to the profession, university, and broader community.
- Fostering a collegial, collaborative, and supportive environment through effective engagement with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience:
- Earned master's degree in family science, family life education, human development, or a closely related field of study.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation:
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
- Research and/or teaching experiences in a higher education academic setting.
- Research and/or teaching experience using a community focused, strengths-based perspective in one or more areas of family life (e.g., interpersonal relationships, sexuality, family law and policy).
- Experience developing and teaching both face-to-face and online courses.
- Agency or non-profit experiences involving family life education and/or early intervention.
- Certified or be eligible for certification in family life education (CFLE).
