• Remuneration: The classification for this position is Academic Level A (Step 6) which has an annual remuneration of $115,372 pa (full-time equivalent). Which is inclusive of an annual salary of $97,490 pa (full-time equivalent), 17% superannuation and leave loading.
• Location: Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses.
• TIEA positions are offered on an ongoing, part-time basis.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking existing QUT sessional staff members to join the Faculty of Business and Law under the Teaching Intensive Employment Arrangement (TIEA).

The Teaching Intensive Employment Arrangement (TIEA) is a unique opportunity for sessional academics within the Faculty to pursue ongoing employment. This arrangement provides a pathway for professional growth and stability within our academic community.

As a TIEA staff member, your primary focus will be on teaching, comprising 90% of your workload allocation. The remaining 10% will be dedicated to leadership and engagement activities, as well as your professional training and development. This balance ensures your continuous professional growth and allows you to contribute to the academic community beyond the classroom.

Who can apply for a TIEA position? 

We invite you to apply for a TIEA role if you meet both of the following criteria:

• You are currently employed at QUT (with a contract for Semester 1 or Semester 2 in 2024) as a sessional staff member in the Faculty of Business and Law.
• You have worked in the Faculty of Business and Law (or its previous incarnations) in any capacity (e.g., sessional or fixed term) for at least 3 semesters in the last 4 years.

What you need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will meet the following requirements:

1. Experienced teaching academics who hold a PhD (or equivalent) and can demonstrate positive student outcomes (including in large units).
2. Teaching experience in a discipline within one of the following schools:

• School of Accountancy
• School of Advertising, Marketing and Public Relations
• School of Economics and Finance
• School of Law
• School of Management
• Graduate School of Business.

1. Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
2. Demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a member of a teaching team.
