Job Description:
This is a position needed to coordinate teaching spaces and laboratories across the college of engineering and computer sciences. There will be weekly, monthly, semesterly, and annual responsibilities to ensure the proper functioning of teaching spaces within the college across multiple buildings. This position is essential to enable to proper building, maintenance, and regular organization of all teaching spaces including laboratories, classrooms, and computer laboratories.
Education and Experience:
Associate degree or bachelors degree.
Skills and Knowledge:
Time management and organizational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy a must. Institutional knowledge, collaborative work style, good judgement, and ability to interact with a diverse body of students, staff and faculty is necessary.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly in-person checks of teaching labs and instructional spaces to ensure computer equipment, laboratory equipment, and facilities are properly prepared for the upcoming week. Verify that instructional supplies are available and replenish them as needed.
- Meet regularly with faculty and graduate student instructors to review the condition of teaching spaces, equipment, and course supply needs. Coordinate with instructors and third-party vendors to address equipment maintenance or repairs. When equipment replacement is required, collaborate with the course faculty and the Teaching Lab Committee to obtain quotes and place orders.
- Hold monthly check-ins with the Teaching Lab Committee and the Associate Dean for Student Affairs to review and align on major priorities for the semester.
- Conduct start-of-semester and end-of-semester inspections of teaching spaces to ensure equipment functionality, adequate facilities, and appropriate supply level.
- Coordinate with ITS on updates to hardware and software in computational laboratories.
- Track computer hardware and software lifecycle schedules to ensure upgrades occur during periods when students are not present and that systems remain aligned with instructional needs.
- Work annually with college leadership to review planned space upgrades during academic breaks and assess whether teaching spaces will adequately support upcoming course offerings.
- Serve as a liaison with the Facilities Manager and CPDC to ensure that construction and space renovations align with the colleges instructional needs and are scheduled when students are not present.
- Assist with basic cleaning coordination, facilities support, and minor repairs within ECS teaching spaces as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
