Job Summary
Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks candidates for a Tech, Ag - Vet Med position to perform general construction and maintenance of farm equipment and facilities that support routine care for animals. This position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, being around farm animals, and all the tough jobs involved in farm work. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
Essential Functions
- Provides routine animal care such as daily feeding, watering, cleaning/sanitation of stalls and barns, rotational grazing, monitoring health and safety of animals, and transportation of animals to the proper location.
- Performs general construction and maintenance of farm equipment, structures, and grounds, including, but not limited to, fences, stalls, barns, roads, ponds, farm buildings, and lawn/field care.
- May handle pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous chemicals on a team or alone.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Depending upon the combination of education and experience, the selected finalist will be hired into levels I, II, III, or IV.
Level I
- High school diploma or equivalent
- No experience
Level II
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1 year of experience in farming practices
Level III
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4 years of experience in farming practices
Level IV
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 6 years of experience in farming practices
Graduate degrees may be accepted in lieu of experience.
Minimum License and Certifications
Possession of a valid drivers license, ability to obtain a pesticide license may be required in specific positions.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in care and well-being of livestock.
- Experience in hay management and harvesting.
Salary Range
$31,200 - $48,250
