Job Description

Gogebic Community College is seeking students for a part-time position in the IT/Computer Services, eSports and Computer Science as a Tech Work Study.

This position pays $12.00 per hour and may provide up to 5 hours per week.

Job Description:

• The Tech Study student work study position will work with IT / Computer Services department, eSports, and Computer Science faculty to help troubleshoot simple computer issues throughout campus during standard hours of operation. Ideally, we are hoping to have a Tech Study team of 2-3 student employees at the same time, so that they can work together on issues and projects. They will serve as the front lines, during their scheduled hours, to help serve fellow students with phone and laptop issues, such as: setting up email on a smart phone, access GCC accounts properly, troubleshoot laptop or phone issues, and printing issues

Minimum Qualifications:

• Preferred qualifications include an enrolled student in Computer Science, or a the Business Division, with an interest in learning technology. We will also accept interested students who are part of the eSports team, but also hold an interest in learning technology.
• In the event that we get a large amount of interest, we may request a letter of interest, as well as an interview.

Anticipated Hours Per Week: 5 Hours
Anticipated Days Per Week: M-F Schedule TBD
Position Available for: Fall and Spring Semester

Supervisor: Steve Spets, Director of Information Technology

Federal Work Study Application Process
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

1. Have a complete Financial Aid Application (FAFSA and all supporting documents).
2. Be approved for Federal Work Study (FWS) on your Financial Aid Notification.
3. Complete and submit the Federal Work Study Application.
4. Once your application is reviewed, the Office of Student Financial Aid will notify you using your GCC email.
5. Be in good academic standing.
