Technical Associate I, Hansen Lab

Posting Description

TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, Department of Biological Engineering - Hansen lab, will be 75% research and 25% lab general lab organizational duties. The research focus will be on understanding gene regulation in the context of 3D genome organization using a combination of cell culture, genome editing, genomics, imaging, and computational methods. This position will be ideal for a recent graduate who is looking for additional training before entering graduate/medical school and/or someone with prior experience as a Technical Associate or similar. The Hansen lab is interested in understanding the interplay between genome organization and regulation of gene expression in mammals. We use a combination of mammalian tissue culture, 3D genomics, live-cell super-resolution fluorescence microscopy, molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, and computational approaches toward this goal. The main responsibilities include but are not limited to performing cloning of DNA constructs for genome editing, conducting biochemical and high-resolution live-cell fluorescence microscopy experiments, computational data analysis, as well as assisting with general lab maintenance.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Molecular or Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, or a related field; a minimum of two years of specialized lab experience (which may include experience gained as an undergraduate); an understanding of modern molecular and cell biology; excellent organization skills and attention to detail; ability to juggle multiple roles; strong initiative and self-motivation, will fulfill tasks without reminding; ability to work both independently and in collaboration with lab members; good written and oral communication skills; willingness to train and onboard new lab members; willingness to learn and acquire new experimental and computational skills as necessary; and integrity, ability to clearly document work, and maintain an accurate lab notebook.

The position may require the ability to work nights and weekends as required by experiments.
