Purpose of Position
This position provides technical support and systems analysis for the Office of Student Financial Assistance. Maintains all financial aid transaction processing within SIGMA ProSAM, SAP, and all U.S. Department of Education software systems within the Office of Student Financial Assistance. This position coordinates all testing of the institution’s student aid management system (SIGMA ProSAM) enhancements and new year set-up. Position collaborates with Information Technology (IT) and Institutional Research and other offices within Enrollment and Degree Management on various projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintains databases and coordinates system upgrades
- Processes file transfer with U.S. Department of Education
- Implements procedures for loading financial aid student data information into current student system
- Generates student data reports, lists and statistical reports on financial aid data
- Assists with the operation of the Microsoft SQL Server on which student data resides
- Understands database query programming and writes queries based on SIGMA ProSAM
- Works with IT staff to write complex reports utilizing BW (Business Warehouse)
- Coordinates all testing of SIGMA ProSAM enhancements and new year set-up
- Tests integration between SAP and SIGMA ProSAM
- Serves as liaison with Office of Information Technology
- Administers and provides system analysis for all processing systems including SIGMA ProSAM, SAP, EdExpress, Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), Image Now, Net Price Calculator (NPC)
- Coordinates yearly updates with Cegment for the Net Price Calculator (NPC)
- Provides technical support for application and processing activity such as awarding and disbursing financial aid
- Works with university community including Enrollment Management, academic department chairs, marketing, Institutional Research, program directors, faculty, staff and administrators regarding financial aid information
- Coordinates with financial aid staff to develop communication flows and manage the databases to provide letters, emails, lists for processing and correspondence
- Provides training to staff on databases/software and Microsoft Office
- Helps with maintaining the Office of Student Financial Assistance web page
- Assists the Director and Associate Director in changing and developing application processing procedures that maximize the capabilities of SIGMA ProSAM
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in computer science, organizational systems or computer information technology. Must have extensive experience with Microsoft Access, SQL Server, Word and Excel. Willingness to learn a range of data and querying methods (SAP BeX, Analysis for Office, SQL, VBA, Access, Tableau, etc.). Demonstrate a strong attention to detail, ability to adapt to a changing environment, and handle multiple priorities. Candidate should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with individuals on all levels, be team-oriented, and exhibit strong initiative.
