Join a dynamic engineering environment supporting teaching, research, and industry-focused projects through hands-on technical expertise.

As a Technical Officer in Mechanical Engineering, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality technical support across teaching programmes, research initiatives, and commercial activities. Working closely with academic staff, students, and industry partners, you will contribute to design, prototyping, manufacturing, and laboratory operations.

You’ll be involved in everything from CAD design and 3D printing to laboratory supervision, equipment maintenance, and health & safety. This is a varied, practical role where your technical skills directly support the development of future engineers and innovative research outcomes.

Salary will be in the range of $73,235 to $87,024 per year pro rata based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role, based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You are a technically skilled and solutions-focused professional with experience in mechanical engineering or a related trade or discipline. You bring hands-on expertise in design, prototyping, and workshop practices, along with strong working knowledge of CAD software and modern manufacturing techniques.

You are confident supporting students and staff, able to communicate clearly, and thrive in a collaborative environment. With a strong commitment to health and safety, you take pride in maintaining high-quality laboratory standards and ensuring safe, efficient operations.

Your ability to troubleshoot, adapt, and continuously improve processes will see you succeed in this role, alongside your genuine interest in supporting the next generation of engineers.
