The Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) invites applications for a Technical Research Support position (TCP4) within the research line "Study of the movement of living beings for health, biometrics, graphometry, education, robotics and livestock."
The position is associated with the research project:
"Kinematic Model Integrating Sensory Feedback for the Prediction of Human Movement with Applications in Diagnosis and Clinical Rehabilitation"

The project is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities (Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades) and has an execution end date of 31 August 2028.
The position is classified as TCP4 – Technical Staff, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (MECES 2). The contract is permanent and linked to a research line. The first contractual addendum will be financed by the project for a maximum period of 18 months from the formalisation of the contract.
The successful candidate will participate in the technical and experimental development of the project, contributing to data acquisition, data processing and analysis, software development and validation of the systems developed in real clinical environments.
Main Responsibilities
The selected candidate will perform technical and experimental activities related to human movement analysis, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics and sensor technologies.
Main responsibilities include:
- Supporting the project's scientific and technological dissemination activities through the preparation of website content, social media content, conference communications and scientific publications.
- Participating in the design, implementation and validation of a human movement model with sensory feedback.
- Processing and analysing experimental data obtained during the project.
- Developing and integrating software tools for robotic learning of human movement using visual and sensory information.
- Generating and managing movement databases for the training and validation of robotic rehabilitation systems.
- Selecting, configuring and calibrating motion capture systems based on cameras adapted to paediatric clinical and rehabilitation environments.
- Implementing 2D and 3D pose estimation, trajectory reconstruction and associated data processing.
- Implementing, evaluating and improving human movement tracking and prediction algorithms.
- Experimentally validating results through comparison with data from different sensors and robotic systems.
- Developing software applications and tools for mobile devices and computer vision systems for the assessment and monitoring of human movement.
- Developing and integrating artificial intelligence algorithms for generating alerts and supporting clinical movement assessment.
- Participating in data acquisition and validation campaigns in collaborating clinical centres.
- Carrying out experimental tests involving paediatric populations, rehabilitation patients and patients with Parkinson's disease.
- Preparing technical reports and documentation related to the developments carried out.
- Supporting technology transfer and dissemination of the project's results.

Applicants must hold one of the following degrees:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering.
- Bachelor's Degree in Data Science and Engineering.

Applicants must also meet the following requirements:
- English language proficiency of at least B1, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
- Knowledge of programming, software development, data analysis, artificial intelligence, computer vision, robotics or sensor technologies.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with research and clinical staff.
- Experience in research activities related to the position will be considered an asset.
- Being enrolled in, admitted to, or pending enrolment in a ULPGC doctoral programme related to the project's research line will be considered an asset.
- A University Master's degree (MECES 3) related to the project's research line and providing access to doctoral studies will also be considered an asset.

Benefits
Contract type: Permanent position linked to a research line/project.
Working hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
Working schedule: Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:30.

Monthly gross salary: €1,425.12

Eligibility criteria
The minimum score required to be selected or included on the reserve list is 50 points out of 100.
1. Research and/or Professional Experience – Maximum 20 points
Assessment will consider:
- Scientific publications: 5 points for each JCR-indexed publication related to the project's research lines.
- Conference participation: 5 points for each conference communication related to the project's research lines.
- Participation in projects or contracts: 5 points per year in activities related to the project's research lines.
- Other relevant experience: Bachelor's or Master's thesis related to the project's research line, up to 20 points.
Supporting documentation: Copies of the claimed merits and the Bachelor's or Master's thesis report.
2. Academic Training – Maximum 40 points
Assessment will consider:
- Academic record: up to 20 points.
- Excellent/Outstanding: 20 points.
- Very Good: 15 points.
- Other grades: 0 points.
- University Master's degree related to the project's subject areas and providing access to doctoral studies: up to 20 points.
- English B2 or higher: 10 points.
The qualification required for admission to the position will not be scored as an additional merit.

3. Other Merits – Maximum 20 points
Candidates will receive 20 points for:
- Being enrolled in,
- Being admitted to,

Supporting documentation: Proof of enrolment, admission, registered admission application or pre-enrolment in the doctoral programme.
4. Personal Interview – Maximum 20 points

The interview will assess:

- Interest in the subject of the project.
- Interest in pursuing a research career.
- Ability to collect data in medical environments.
General Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following conditions:
Nationality and Work Authorization
Applicants may be:
- Spanish nationals.
- Nationals of other EU Member States.
- Family members of EU citizens under the conditions established by EU regulations.
- Non-EU nationals legally residing in Spain with authorization to work without restrictions.
Individuals otherwise authorized under applicable legislation to enter into employment contracts with public-sector entities may also apply.
Academic Qualifications
Applicants must provide evidence of the academic qualifications and specific requirements established in the call.

Functional Capacity

Language Requirements
The specific language requirement for this position is English at B1 level or higher.
Incompatibility Regulations
Applicants must comply with the Spanish legislation governing incompatibilities for public employees, particularly Law 53/1984.
Timing of Requirements
All eligibility requirements must be fulfilled by the application deadline and maintained throughout the duration of the contract.
For non-EU applicants, the employment contract may only be formalised once the relevant work permit and visa have been obtained.
Selection process
The selection committee will evaluate applications according to the published scoring criteria and will establish an ordered list based on the scores obtained.
After the application period closes, a provisional list of admitted and excluded candidates will be published. Excluded candidates will have three working days to correct formal errors in their application; new merits may not be added after the original deadline.
Following the correction period, the final list of admitted and excluded candidates will be published. The committee will then evaluate the applications and publish a provisional award proposal. Candidates will have three working days to submit allegations.
Reserve List
Unsuccessful candidates may be included in a reserve list to cover the position if the initially selected candidate resigns or the position becomes vacant during the contract period.
Probationary Period
The contract will be subject to a two-month probationary period, provided that its duration exceeds two months.
Contract Termination
The contract may be terminated, among other legally established circumstances, due to insufficient, exhausted or discontinued funding supporting the contract or research line, completion of the specific tasks for which the contract was established, or other legally established causes.
In the event of termination, the applicable legal compensation will be 20 days' salary per year worked, or the corresponding proportional amount where the employment period is less than one year.
