Olympic College is currently recruiting for a Technical Theatre / Technical Theatre Support Full-Time Faculty (Temporary). This role is a temporary full-time, 9-month (academic year) faculty position responsible for overseeing the technical functions of academic activities in the William D. Harvey Theatre and teaching one technical theatre class per quarter. The William D. Harvey Theatre is less than 10 years old and seats 276. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in lighting, sound, and video presentation. The ability to program a lightboard and set up audiovisual equipment is required. This candidate should be able to develop and teach courses preparing students for work in sets, props, lighting, sound, video, costumes, and technical management, giving them the proficiency to enter the workforce. The position is renewable for a second year and will be reevaluated in two years.
The Technical Director is responsible for the technical aspects for all academic users of the William D. Harvey Theatre, including lighting, sound, set design, stage management, and other technical elements of performances and classroom usage. The position will coordinate theatre use with faculty and the Olympic College Events Coordinator, maintain theatre equipment, supervise crews, troubleshoot technical issues, and support Olympic College productions.
Responsibilities include teaching one 5-credit technical theatre class per quarter. During the first year, develop the curriculum for an introductory stagecraft class to be taught the following quarter, and develop the curriculum for two additional courses so that a three-course Technical Theatre series can be offered in [contact details available in the full listing].
