Position Summary

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented person to assist the research team in all activities related to the study of membrane proteins in the Quick lab. This role provides a unique opportunity work with a world-class team of researchers.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of solutions and materials required for performance of routine experiments.
• Maintenance of cell cultures & preparation of membrane vesicles.
• Protein purification & reconstitution.
• Performance of a variety of standard molecular biology methods such as PCR (or comparable technique)-based site-directed mutagenesis, recombinant cloning techniques, and routine protein-biochemical assays.
• Maintenance of laboratory inventory of DNA, cell, and protein samples.
• Performs related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested.

Minimum Qualifications

• Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or a completed animal husbandry program.
• One year of related experience, or equivalent in education, training and/or experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in wet-lab procedures.
• Knowledge in preparation of solutions and buffers.
• DNA mutagenesis and cloning techniques.
• Knowledge in maintaining small & large-scale pro- and eukaryotic cell cultures.
• Basic knowledge in protein biochemical methods (including chromatography).
• Knowledge in basic computer applications (MS Word, Excel) and specialized scientific software (e.g., graphing, in silico DNA and protein analysis software).

Other Requirements

• Must successfully complete all online systems training requirements.
