Skills/Qualifications
- Academic Qualifications: Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, or a related biomedical field.
- Specific training: Master’s degree or postgraduate training in bioinformatics
Specific Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in bioinformatics analysis, omics analysis, statistical analysis, or molecular interpretation of biomedical data, including at least 2 years in bioinformatics applied to personalized medicine projects.
- Experience in biomedical research units, services, groups, or platforms; hospitals; health research institutes; universities; or public research centers will be considered a plus
- Proven practical experience in several of the following areas will be considered:
- RNA-seq analysis: alignment, quantification, differential expression, and functional analysis
Useful tools: STAR, HTSeq, DESeq2, clusterProfiler - Tumor DNA sequencing analysis: alignment, somatic variant calling, and functional annotation
Preferred tools: BWA-MEM2, Mutect2, VEP - Detection and interpretation of structural and copy-number alterations (CNVs and gene fusions)
Recommended tools: FACETS, ABRA, or other equivalents - Pharmacogenomic analysis: identification of germline variants associated with drug toxicity or response
Recommended tools: PLINK, SNP array analysis, or genomic association studies - Correction for batch effects and integration of omics data (RNA-seq, methylation, or other high-throughput data)
Recommended tools: ComBat-seq, champ.runCombat, MOFA, mixOmics, FactoMineR.
- RNA-seq analysis: alignment, quantification, differential expression, and functional analysis
- Technical skills:
- Advanced user of R for statistical and bioinformatics analysis and the generation of reproducible results
- Advanced proficiency with the Linux/Unix command line
- Experience in statistical analysis applied to biomedical data
- Ability to work with clinical and molecular data and generate interpretable results for biomedical teams
- Scientific publications in genomics, molecular oncology, hematology, pharmacogenomics, or personalized medicine
- Experience in translational research projects involving patient samples
- Experience supervising students, providing methodological support to researchers, or co-advising undergraduate or graduate theses is a plus
- Additional training in GATK, WES, RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, WGCNA, machine learning applied to bioinformatics, methylation analysis, or multi-omic integration
- Advanced proficiency with the Linux/Unix command line
