Technology Engineer
Scientific Computing and Data Facilities (SCDF) combines advanced expertise in high-throughput, high-performance, and data-intensive computing with data management, analysis, and preservation in a centralized computing facility that supports Brookhaven Lab and beyond.
SCDF is seeking a Technology Engineer to be responsible for the integrated operations of the various Scientific Data and Computing Center (SDCC) data center's infrastructure and storage systems. The selected candidate will operate the facility's virtualization and container management system.and optimize large scale high-performance storage systems at both the hardware and software levels. They will assist in the evaluation of new technologies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the deployment and operations of large scale (PBs) high-availability and I/O intensive distributed disk storage systems in support of the RHIC and USATLAS experiments.
- Operate high-availability and I/O intensive computing workflows in support of the RHIC experiments and USATLAS.
- Deploy and operate data-driven monitoring tools to analyze and optimize data storage interactions and computing activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant experience.
- A minimum of 2 years experience with multi-flavor Linux system administration.
- At least 6 months of experience operating a high-availability scientific data center, data center monitoring software (Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios), and programming in shell scripting and Python.

Technology Engineers earn between $103,409 to $155,050 yearly. ERAP ELIGIBLE - $1,000.00
