Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 2 years experience in low installation and repair; BICSI training
Position Summary: Perform routine telecommunications cabling activities including job site preparation; creating cable pathways; installing twisted pair, fiber, and coax cable; terminating twisted pair, fiber, and coax cable; installing racks and other equipment in telecommunications closets; testing and certifying cable installations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Installation and termination of twisted pair cable; ability to climb ladders and perform overhead work; ability to operate hand tools.
Physical Demands: Lift 50 lbs, climb ladders and perform overhead work, operate hand tools and power tools, work in small spaces (crawlspaces, attics, maintenance holes); operate hand tools. Driving.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Install hardware systems such as ladder racks, J-hooks, and/or D-rings to support telecommunications cable pulls. (70%)
- Prepare telecommunications rooms (Main Distribution Frames-MDF and Intermediate Distribution Frames-IDF) in UGA buildings to function as central and secondary distribution nodes for telecommunications cabling networks. Implement firestopping techniques when appropriate for telecommunications cabling installations. (15%)
- At the discretion of the Section Manager, supervise the efforts of assigned team members. (10%)
- Pull telecommunications cabling (fiber and or copper) through buried conduit (outside plant) routed between buildings. (5%)
