TEMP-Lab/Research Support (Peralta-Yahya Lab)

Job Summary

Provide support services in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory to include performing analyses; setup, operation, maintenance and cleaning of equipment; and maintaining stock of supplies. Specific duties will be determined based on assignment and unit needs.

Responsibilities

• Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
• Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
• Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
• May clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
• Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Other Information

The Research Technician will perform technical activities including 1) generating genetic constructs in Escherichia coli: PCR, cloning, DNA analysis, strain stocks, 2) designing, building and testing sensors in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. 3) preparing media and stock solutions, 4) utilizing various research equipment and software to record data, perform data analysis and compile results for presentations, 5) maintain research-related records, 6) maintain laboratory equipment, and 7) perform other duties as assigned.
