Temporary CFC Group Fitness Instructor
Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service, health, wellness, social justice, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad.

The Cornell Fitness Centers (CFC) is a dynamic campus partner within the Cornell Community with a focus on fostering student physical and mental well-being through movement-based activity. We strive to provide opportunities in an inclusive environment for all students and to encourage a sustainable healthy lifestyle.
The Cornell Fitness Centers Group Fitness Program offers a wide variety of movement-based Group Fitness classes that are available to everyone in the Cornell Community (students, staff, faculty, emeritus, retirees, and spouses/partners) who choose to purchase a membership.
CFC Group Fitness Instructors are tasked with developing and leading these fitness classes in one or multiple formats including Yoga, Spinning, and various cardiovascular-strength classes such as H.I.I.T. classes, Pilates, Barre, and more.
Success Factors:
- Ability to teach safe & dynamic form, proper & easy-to-follow progression of exercises, and a balanced workout.
- Ability to adapt to cues based on the needs of class participants.
- Ability to create an inclusive and welcoming class experience.

Required Qualifications:
- Current American Red Cross CPR/AED (or equivalent)
- Current American Red Cross Standard First Aid (or equivalent)
- One nationally recognized fitness certification or other related fitness certification that is current (not-expired). Examples include AFAA, ACE, ACSM, Spinning®, ZUMBA® Fitness, 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, or other related teaching certification.
- General knowledge of current exercise recommendation principles.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
