Duties and Responsibilities: The Temporary County Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) Educator has primary responsibility for recruiting program partners, teaching approved EFNEP curricula to eligible audiences, submitting records and reports as required by the State EFNEP office, and maintaining compliance with federal and state program policies and guidelines. The Temporary EFNEP Educator cooperates with colleagues in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension and county leaders in performing assigned responsibilities. The performance of assigned responsibilities is governed by the philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of the North Carolina Cooperative Extension.

The EFNEP Educator receives programmatic guidance from the District EFNEP Regional Nutrition Extension Associate (RNEA) with overall supervision provided by the County Extension Director (CED). The EFNEP Educator and the RNEA work with the Family and Consumer Science Agent, 4-H Agent and/or CED to meet the needs of the county. Renewal of the position is contingent on the availability of funds. Under the programmatic guidance of the RNEA, the EFNEP Educator conducts nutrition education to limited resource adults and youth in group settings. While performing this role, the EFNEP Educator, per the needs of Henderson County:

  • Travels within county, district, and state using a personal vehicle. A personal vehicle is required. Travel will be reimbursed following State guidelines.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the role of NC Cooperative Extension as an educational agency.
  • Recruits eligible limited-resource youth and families, delivering nutrition education and food demonstrations using approved curricula and teaching methods.
  • Collects required program data, prioritizes recordkeeping to meet reporting deadlines, and maintains confidentiality of all program information.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships with agencies to expand outreach, enhance program visibility, share impacts with stakeholders, and connect participants to additional educational opportunities.
  • Meets established programmatic standards for performance and impact.
  • Attends and participates in required EFNEP meetings and trainings within the county and outside of the county.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This is a Temporary Position.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

  • Knowledge of agencies and/or organizations serving audiences with limited financial resources.
