Overview: The successful applicant will work with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) Tribal Members and with community, state, regional, and federal partners that serve Tribal Members to develop and maintain opportunities that support Local Food Systems.
Applicant should be familiar with basic evaluation practices and be comfortable supplying data for grant reporting. The position will be part of a highly collaborative team of community leaders and professionals working on tight timelines to meet current food systems project needs. The position will be working in collaborative team settings and be goal driven, and have a value-based work ethic.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This requires a close collaboration with the EBCI Extension Director and other community partners to plan and deliver
- Training targeted to producers, region-wide extension agents, and other regional stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial development.
- Helping food and farming businesses identify training and resource needs to expand and grow their business.
Departmental Required Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable with the use of standard Microsoft Office Applications
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
- Experience working with EBCI community.
- Knowledge of Tribal Communities.
- Seed, plant, ecosystem, food knowledge
- Food preservation knowledge all a plus.
Necessary Licenses or Certifications: Must pass Background check for working with minors
