Temporary Registered Nurse (2 openings)

(35 hours per week preferred (8h shifts, 9-5 pm with one hour unpaid lunch)

The registered nurse at University Health Services provides physical, psychological, and emotional care on a 10-bed inpatient unit, as well as assessing and treating walk-in patients in an emergent or urgent care setting.

Key responsibilities include:

• Identifying patient service needs by establishing rapport with patients and their families, applying the nursing process, and conducting thorough nursing assessments.
• Evaluating patients seeking medical or emergency treatment and providing first-aid as needed, while communicating findings to treating practitioners.
• Communicating test and laboratory results to treating practitioners in a timely manner.
• Coordinating treatment by collaborating with the multidisciplinary team, which may include physicians, nurses, administrative staff, counseling services, the BC Police Department, and local emergency rooms.
• Arranging for referrals, diagnostic tests, patient transportation, and hospital admissions when necessary.
• Addressing patient needs through multidisciplinary strategies, including counseling on health care practices and prescribed medical treatments.

This is a non-benefited position; hours and shifts may vary. The hourly rate is expected to be $41.50/hour.

Requirements:

• Registered Nurse with MA license.
• 2-5 years experience in an ambulatory, emergency or college health setting.
• Some computer experience.
