"Temporary Research Technician"

Essential Job Duties

Assist in genetics lab to collect data for gene mapping projects, isolation of candidate genes and gene validation. Works with supervisor to set up experiments and collect data on plant disease resistance and other traits in field and greenhouse settings. Performs lab duties including DNA isolation, preparing samples for DNA sequencing and gene cloning into vectors. Assists with analysis of genomic and phenotypic data to identify candidate genes underlying traits.

Minimum Experience/Education

Combination of training and experience required to perform the duties.

Department Required Skills

Experience in conducting genetic research in plants; Experience growing and evaluating plants in both field and greenhouse environments; Experience in alignment of DNA sequences, design of PCR primers, and gene cloning into vectors.

Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education

Experience working with wheat genetics, particularly transformation and gene editing.

Required License or Certification

Valid driver’s license.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$21/hr.

Work Schedule

20 hrs per week.
