Temporary Retail Assistant, Cornell Retail Services
Cornell Retail Services is hiring part-time/casual staff (19 hours per week or less) for areas including Sales (Ithaca Campus & Downtown Ithaca Location), Technology, Textbooks, and Inventory/Order Fulfillment. The Cornell Store is a dynamic hub serving students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors, delivering legendary customer service.
General Responsibilities:
- Sales and Service: Greeting and welcoming customers, demonstrating active selling, providing product information, and ensuring high-quality customer service.
- Visual Merchandising: Maintaining sales floor appearance, setting up seasonal promotions, and monitoring for restocking.
- Point of Sale Support: Operating cash registers, assisting with check-out, and handling cash procedures.
- Inventory & Order Fulfillment Support: Receiving and processing merchandise, assisting with special orders, and handling seasonal goods.
- Customer Care: Supporting digital and in-store experiences by responding to inquiries.
We value your ability to drive positive customer experiences, build relationships, work in a team, be dependable, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
Qualifications: Pleasant personality, excellent customer service skills, moderate computer competency, good communication skills, ability to climb ladders, lift up to 50 pounds, and stand for long periods. Prior retail experience is helpful but not required. Hire rate starts at $17.00/hour with variable schedules based on availability and business needs.
