The Department of Accountancy at Gies Business is a world leader in research, teaching, and public engagement. We serve the state, the nation, and the world by creating knowledge, preparing students for lives of impact, and addressing critical societal needs through the transfer and application of knowledge. We are interested in candidates who will bring excellence to campus via outstanding research, teaching, and service. Tenure-track faculty conduct leading-edge accounting research, deliver an engaging classroom experience, and provide support and leadership within the department and accounting academic community.
The Department of Accountancy offers a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy, Master of Accounting Science, Master of Science in Accountancy (available both in-person and online), and a PhD in Accountancy. Renowned for its leadership in data analytics, the Department is home to the University of Illinois-Deloitte Foundation Center for Business Emerging Technologies, which develops and disseminates cutting-edge curricula to faculty, students, and professionals globally.
The Department holds AACSB International accreditation and consistently ranks #1 in the BYU Faculty Research Rankings. With over 75 faculty members covering a wide range of research and teaching expertise, the Department fosters a collaborative and collegial environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
- Tenure-track faculty are expected to conduct research in Accountancy.
- Senior faculty are expected to provide leadership in the department, the university and in the Accountancy discipline.
