Job Title: Tenure-Track - Assistant Professor
Department: Engineering | Electrical and Computer Engineering
Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

Position Overview
The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department (https://ece.osu.edu/) at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or associate professor (before tenure) appointment in the research areas of power electronics, AI & data-driven controls for power systems, and other areas of interest within ECE. The research area must complement the current research portfolio. This position will start as early as August 15, 2026. We also encourage individuals whose work qualifies them for promotion to associate professor, but who have not yet obtained tenure, to apply. The position is open to applicants who may require sponsorship for a visa or other work authorization.
Performance Objectives
- High-quality high-impact research in the domain of power electronics, AI & data-driven controls for power systems, and other areas of interest within ECE
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within ECE
- Advise undergraduate and graduate students in ECE towards successful completion of their degree programs
- An attitude conducive of good citizenship, including a commitment to interact with others in a professional, ethical, and constructive fashion
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
- A Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field.
- Evidence of demonstrated efforts in research, teaching, and/or outreach and engagement that reflect Ohio State’s Shared Values.
- Evidence of research publications in top journals and conferences within the field of interest.
- Potential to attract and mentor graduate students
- Potential to teach and supervise undergraduate students from all backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to be a conscientious member of the university and/or research community
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with desire and ability to work constructively, decisively, and collegially with external and internal colleagues in multi-disciplinary settings.
Desired:
- A commitment to interdisciplinary education and collaborative research
- Industrial R&D or postdoctoral research experience
- Prior teaching and mentoring experience in an academic or professional setting
- Exposure to collaborative research in an academic or professional setting

The final offer for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. Salary and start-up packages are negotiated by the department chair and may vary depending on individual circumstances.

Justification for those strategies, focusing on evidence-based practice, highlighting how to achieve an effective learning environment for all students regardless of their backgrounds, expectations, and needs. A statement of your approaches, experience and philosophy regarding your teaching, learning, and mentoring.
- Attachment 4: Research Statement. Write 1-2 pages, single spaced narrative that includes: Your research questions and their importance; how your research contributes to your field. Research plan and future research directions. Identify potential collaborations and funding sources. Broader impacts of your research (the potential to benefit society and contribute to the achievement of specific, desired societal outcomes). Plan for student engagement in your research program.
- Attachment 5: Mentoring Statement. Write 1-2 pages, single spaced narrative that includes: Your mentoring philosophy. Describe previous mentoring training and/or experience. State mentoring skills you consider fundamental include those necessary to effectively mentor students from all cultural backgrounds.
