The Technical University of Munich (TUM) is seeking to fill the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor (f/m/d) for » Engineering Immune Cells for Therapy « in salary group W2 (limited to 6 years, with tenure track to W3) as soon as possible.
Scientific environment
The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Medicine and Health, one of the most research- and teaching-intensive medical centers in Germany. Within the school, the professorship will be located at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene. The institute boasts an excellent research infrastructure, which, along with the other relevant core facilities at the TUM School of Medicine and Health, provides an outstanding foundation for scientific success. Relevant research networks at TUM, in the greater Munich area, and beyond (including the TRR338/SFB LETSImmun, the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK), and the Bavarian Center for Cancer Research (BZKF)) offer an excellent and collaborative research environment.
Tasks
Responsibilities include research and teaching, as well as the supervision and promotion of young scientists. We are seeking an expert in the research area of "Cell and Gene Therapy" with a focus on the engineering of immune cells, preferably lymphocytes, for adoptive or in vivo cell therapies. Teaching responsibilities include participation in TUM's bachelor's and master's programs, particularly in the field of immunology for students of human medicine, biology, biotechnology, and biochemistry.
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record of academic achievement and the potential to develop an independent research program at the highest international level. A university degree, an outstanding doctorate, or comparable academic achievements, as well as exceptional teaching skills, are also required. Successful applicants will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate in an interdisciplinary manner with relevant colleagues from the TUM School of Medicine and Health and other schools, and to actively participate in research networks.
