Tenure-Track Assistant Professor for Division of Transplantation Surgery
Position Overview
The Department of Surgery, Division of Abdominal Transplantation at the Ohio State University currently has an opportunity for tenure-track faculty at the Assistant Professor level with research interests related to transplant immunology; responsible for contributing to a cohesive transplant immunology program, collaborating with other leaders in immunology to develop an integrated enterprise immunology presence; serves as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on sponsored research grants and on original research projects; conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of transplant immunology; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain funding to support research program; secures and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding; writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation; instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in division, department, college and university committees and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Conceptualizes, plans, designs, implements and conducts research studies in the area of transplant immunology; develops and writes grant proposals to seek and obtain extramural funding to support research program; obtains and maintains NIH R01 or equivalent funding;
- Writes and publishes research in high quality peer reviewed, scientific journals; attends and makes presentations of research at national and international scientific conferences; develops national and international scholarly reputation;
- Instructs and mentors junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents and fellow trainees; participates in department, college and university committees and initiatives.
Requirements
PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field; Postdoctoral research experience in basic science research and transplant immunology required, with considerable experience in immune activation and immune tolerance; Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in scientific, peer-reviewed journals preferred; Current, active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01); Academic experience a plus; Qualify for academic appointment at the Assistant Professor level; Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience.
