Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Bacterial Pathogenesis
The Department of Molecular Biosciences (MBS) at the University of South Florida (USF) is seeking applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of bacterial pathogenesis. The expected start date is August 7, 2026. Appropriate disciplinary specialties may include but are not limited to the molecular study of bacterial pathogens, antibiotic resistance, drug development, host-microbe interaction, and omics approaches. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Microbiology or a related discipline, postdoctoral experience, and a proven track record as evidenced by a robust publication record. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a strong, externally funded research program, as well as to contribute to the education of undergraduate and graduate students. The department offers outstanding laboratory space, as well as a competitive salary and start-up package for the successful candidate. MBS is part of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Opportunities for collaboration exist within CAS, including with the Departments of Chemistry and Physics, and across the USF campus, including with the Center for Antimicrobial Resistance, USF Colleges of Medicine, Public Health, and Engineering, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, Johnnie B. Byrd Sr. Alzheimer's Institute, Center for Biological Defense and the Center for Drug Discovery and Innovation. USF is a member of the Association of American Universities and designated by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University/Very High Research Activity and has one of the fastest growing biomedical research bases in the country.
