Tenure-track Assistant Professor in Creative Writing
The Department of English at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit Catholic University, invites applications for a tenure-track position in Creative Writing with expertise in new forms/digital genres. We are particularly interested in creative writing that emphasizes social justice, especially racial and/or environmental justice, and in candidates committed to undergraduate writing and publishing, including an emphasis on mixed media and/or mixed genre writing. Successful candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and sustain an active record of publication. In keeping with Santa Clara’s Jesuit mission and values, the successful candidate will demonstrate how their teaching emphasizes inclusive pedagogical practices and promotes success for all students. The position begins on September 1, 2026, and requires undergraduate teaching; engaging in creative work and/or scholarship; and service for the department, college, and university. SCU is on the quarter system and tenure-stream faculty are expected to teach six courses per year (two each quarter), alongside actively engaging in scholarship or creative work.
