Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Modern Canadian History
Lakehead University, Thunder Bay Campus, invites applications for one tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of History. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on August 1, 2026.
The position being sought is for a historian of Modern Canada in an open field with the expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to the growth and development of the department’s Public History specialization, an experiential learning program currently centred in Thunder Bay. The ability to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, with a commitment to innovative pedagogy and student engagement is required. Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired. The successful candidate will also supervise student projects at the undergraduate and graduate level, contributing to our HBA, Public History, and MA programs. Any specialization within Modern Canadian History will be considered.
Compensation
The expected compensation range for this position is: Assistant Professor: $88,094 - $133,223
Salary will be determined in accordance with the collective agreement and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
