Duties and Responsibilities:
EFFECTIVE TEACHING AND PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:Tenure Track faculty are responsible for
effectively teaching students both in assigned courses and
outside-the-classroom settings (e.g., student research, service
learning, laboratory activities, and applied projects), advising
students, and carrying out other assigned professional
responsibilities in support of student learning and success. The
academic-year workload for full-time faculty is 24 workload hours
and faculty must hold a minimum of five office hours per week on no
fewer than three different days. Primary teaching responsibilities
will be for undergraduate professional and laboratory-based courses
in the materials processing area. Course content is likely to
include some combination of the following: Production Materials
& Processes, Processing Metallic Materials, Processing
Nonmetallic Materials, Polymer and Ceramic Technology, Automated
Manufacturing (including CAD/CAM applications), Machine Tool
Design, Statics and Strength of Materials, and Technical
Entrepreneurship. Depending upon qualifications, additional
teaching responsibilities will include courses in the CAD
concentration area, such as drafting and computer-aided design
fundamentals or advanced computer-aided engineering drawing, or in
the Technology and Engineering Education program, such as
Innovation & Design Methodologies and the Seminar in Technology
Education accompanying student teaching. Candidates must be willing
to teach day, evening, and weekend classes on or off the
Millersville campus using a variety of instructional strategies in
face-to-face, web-enhanced, or online formats. All members of the
faculty also have the responsibility to accept those reasonable
duties assigned to them within their fields of competence. Actual
assignments will depend upon department needs.
Faculty are expected to hold regular office hours as well as be
able to teach in a variety of delivery modalities.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: The Department of Applied
Engineering, Safety & Technology (AEST), in the College of
Science and Technology, is composed of 10 faculty members, one
full-time secretary, two full-time laboratory technicians, and over
400 students collectively majoring or minoring in Applied
Engineering & Technology Management (AETM), Automation &
Robotics Engineering Technology (AURO), Manufacturing Engineering
Technology (MFET), Occupational Safety and Environmental Health
(OSEH) and Technology and Engineering Education (TECE).
Osburn Hall, a dedicated facility for the Department, houses its
classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and offices. This campus
center for the study of applied engineering, safety and technology
is organized according to technology clusters.
Required Qualifications
- A completed terminal degree in such fields as engineering,
engineering technology, applied engineering, industrial technology,
technology and engineering education, engineering technology
management, engineering design, product design engineering,
education, or a related field completed by the date of eligibility
for reappointment to the third year (approximately two years after
the start date).
- Earned technical undergraduate degree in industrial technology,
engineering technology, applied engineering, technology management,
technology and engineering education, product design engineering,
or manufacturing-related discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in manufacturing processes and
production materials, including experience with multiple material
systems such as metals, polymers, wood, or ceramics.
- Demonstrated ability to teach and apply conventional and
non-conventional manufacturing processes, including experience with
machine tools and, or CNC equipment in operational and/or
instructional settings.
- Experience in supervising, maintaining, and improving
laboratory facilities.
- Ability to teach courses in the Technology and Engineering
Education program or teach and utilize computer-aided design and
drafting (CADD) software such as AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and
SolidWorks.
- Willingness and commitment to teach in a laboratory-based,
hands-on teaching/learning environment and teach day, weekend and
evening courses as well as in a variety of formats including online
as required.
- Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication
skills.
- Proficiency in the application of information technology
relevant to the teaching and learning process.

Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Industrial experience in the manufacturing field, including
geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Documented K-12 teaching experience in technology and
engineering education, technology education, STEM education, or
related disciplines.
- Documented effectiveness in teaching or training.
- Experience participating in and/or advising student clubs.
- Experience with program assessment and accreditation.
- Involvement with professional associations such as Association
of Technology Management & Applied Engineering (ATMAE),
International Technology and Engineering Educators Association
(ITEEA), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), etc.
- Industry or professional certifications relevant to
manufacturing, automation, or technology education, such as OSHA
10/30, SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP), SME's Certified Manufacturing
Technologist (CMfgT), ATMAE's Certified Technology Manager (CTM),
Certification of Engineering Graphics (CEG), LEED Green Associate,
or Project Lead The Way (PLTW) certification.
- A valid state-issued teaching certification/license in
technology and engineering education, technology education, STEM
education, or a related discipline (e.g., Project Lead The Way
(PLTW) certification, PA or other state Instructional
certification).
- Supervision of interns and/or student teachers.

Essential Functions
