Tenure Track Assistant Professor Nursing
Job Summary
The College of Health Sciences seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor to teach courses in nursing at the graduate and undergraduate levels. This faculty position, based in the School of Nursing, is a 10-month academic year position.
Responsibilities
Faculty - Teaching/Instructing -
- Full-time instructional load teaching in areas of expertise within the academic discipline
- Regular course meetings and instruction
- Mentoring students
- Other teaching responsibilities
All Georgia College & State University faculty share the responsibility of teaching our core curriculum and providing foundation courses for majors and non-majors alike. Faculty employees also contribute to the Georgia College & State University core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore seminar (GC2Y) courses.
Faculty - Professional Development -
Faculty are expected to conduct research and develop within the profession.
- Publications (editing, citations)
- Presentations at professional meetings
- Publication; peer reviewed scholarship
- Current work in circulation or in progress
- Grants received or applied for
- Membership and participation in professional organizations
- Other professional service of development activities
Faculty - Service to Institution -
All faculty are expected to support the advancement of the department, college and university mission by providing service to the institution. Service may be at the department, college, university, community and/or disciplinary level. Duties include service on college-level and university-level committees, advising students regarding career options, and support of department-level outreach activities.

Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
A terminal degree (or the ability to obtain one within a year of appointment) in nursing or a related discipline (PhD, DNP, EdD, DNS) is expected.
A Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program or the equivalent 40 hours of nursing credit from a BSN to DNP program.
Must meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements as stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)).
Other Required Qualifications
Unencumbered RN or APRN license in the state of GA or the ability to obtain one upon appointment.
Required Experience
Unencumbered license as a registered nurse in the United States with the ability to obtain a license in the state of Georgia upon appointment.
3 years of clinical practice as a Registered or Advanced Practice Nurse.

- Evidence of methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies is preferred.
