In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $125, 000 - $145,000. The candidate would be joining Wagner’s 30+ full-time faculty members who are trained in a wide variety of disciplines including: management, healthcare management, sociology, economics, public policy, social entrepreneurship, financial management and public finance, political science, and urban planning. The candidate will specifically join the current management faculty at Wagner, including tenure-track faculty ( Thomas D’Aunno , Patricia Satterstrom ), clinical faculty ( Martha Stark , Judy Pryor Ramirez , Carla Jackie Sampson , Jacob Victory ) and highly regarded adjunct faculty. Our faculty share a commitment to addressing issues of public importance in their teaching and research and to supporting and mentoring colleagues and students. They collaborate with other schools and departments across the university, including the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, School of Global Public Health, Rory Meyers College of Nursing, School of Law, Tandon School of Engineering, and Departments of Sociology, History, Economics, and Politics, among others. Research & Teaching Areas We seek scholars whose work addresses how organizations function today and how they will function in the years ahead; how new technologies and systems are reshaping the way work gets done and how people relate to one another inside and across organizations; how people lead with particular grounding in public and cross-sector settings — especially the sectors where many of our students build careers, including healthcare, education, government, advocacy, urban policy, consulting, and impact investing, domestically and internationally. We welcome scholars who do qualitative, quantitative, experimental, and simulation work. Content areas that are particularly important for our school include: Innovation and technology: Research on how to lead, manage, and support innovation and organizational learning amidst accelerated technological changes and new collaboration structures Leading and negotiating wisely and ethically: Research on how people – particularly in sectors of interest to us – make decisions, negotiate, and create ethical frameworks in complex, real-world settings. Ideally with an eye toward overcoming systemic and interpersonal biases. Social movements and power: Research on the strategy, management, and power at the heart of organizing and social movements, and community-based organizations — how organizers build and structure coalitions, mobilize resources and people, exercise power and influence within and across institutions, and translate sustained effort into durable social change. Cross-organization, cross-sector, and cross-national leadership: Research on how people lead, manage, and work between organizations, across sectors, and across countries. Ideally with an eye on how to cultivate sustainable collaborations. Policy implementation and organizational performance: Research on what happens after a policy is passed — the processes, structures, networks, and jobs that are created or reshaped. This area could also look at how changes and performance are managed, evaluated, and measured. Organizational and human resources: Research on organizational change, organizational structures, understanding difference and creating conditions for inclusive and thriving cultures; career development and talent management are also of interest. We seek candidates who bring a demonstrated commitment to excellence in the classroom. We are particularly interested in candidates who create active-learning classroom cultures that foster student agency and personal investment in the material. We seek candidates who have a commitment to, and experience or evidence of the potential for success in teaching a diverse population of students in one of the most diverse cities in the U.S. A new hire would carry a share of our core management and leadership courses (e.g., Management & Leadership, Strategy, Human Resources and Job Design, Performance Management & Measurement) and electives across our Master’s, mid-career, and executive formats, bringing actual organizational problems into the classroom in support of Wagner's effort to prepare students to lead in real-world settings.
