The department of Religion at Washington and Lee University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the study of Judaism. The area of specialization is open; ability to teach Introduction to Hebrew Bible is desirable. We seek candidates with broad interests who can also design thematic courses that contribute to the department's study of religion. Interest in offering courses in some of the following areas is welcome: the comparative study of religion, religion in America, or religion and politics.
The appointment will begin July 1, 2027. Teaching load is five courses over three terms (two 12-week terms and one 4-week term).

The expected salary for this position is between $88,000 - $96,000. Offers are based on factors such as relevant education, experience, tenure status, internal equity, and market and organizational considerations.

Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who will hold a Ph. D. in Religion/Religious Studies or a related field by time of the appointment, July 1, 2027.
