About the Job

The Division of Hematology, Oncology & Transplantation (HOT) and the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, is seeking a tenure-track medical hematologist/oncologist with training and experience in Malignant Hematology or Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy. The ideal candidate will have translational research experience and clinical expertise in the treatment and research related to blood and marrow transplantation, as well as independently obtained research funding. The Division is seeking an individual with a strong interest in clinical research in blood and marrow transplantation, stem cell transplantation, and cellular therapy who can thrive the team-based environment of the UMN Medical School. The ideal candidate will be hired at the appropriate rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor and will be on Academic or Clinician Track. The position is Tenure Track eligible.

This individual will assume a key leadership role in the development, implementation, and supervision of innovative research projects and clinical trials in the treatment of cancer. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and collaborate with research team members involved in support of critical research goals. This individual will also participate in the inpatient and outpatient clinical care of hematology/oncology patients as well as teaching of medical students and post-graduate trainees.

Faculty in the HOT Division have the opportunity to work in partnership with The Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota which is a Comprehensive Cancer Center designated by the National Cancer Institute. Since 1991, researchers, educators, and care providers have worked collaboratively to discover the causes, prevention, detection and treatment of cancer and cancer-related disease. The Masonic Cancer Center offers faculty a collaborative research environment focused on the causes, prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer; applying that knowledge to improve quality of life for patients and survivors; and sharing its discoveries with other scientists, students, professionals, and the community.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
• M.D. and Board Eligible or Certified in Medical Oncology
• Demonstrated excellence in patient care
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for medical education and strong teaching skills
• Must have or be able to attain a medical license in the state of MN
• Must be able to pass credentialing at all applicable sites

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: This role is dually employed by the University of Minnesota and University of Minnesota Physicians. Salary at the University of Minnesota is dependent upon academic effort of the person hired, and begins at $55,000. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through University of Minnesota Physicians. Total salary is competitive with market and based on AAMC salary benchmarks.
