Cal Poly Humboldt and the Department of Child Development invites applicants for a full-time, academic year, tenure-track faculty position with an emphasis in Speech and Language Pathology (SLP). We seek an innovative and collaborative scholar-practitioner to join us to play a key role in establishing an accredited Speech and Language Pathology Master's program approved under the Polytechnic designation of the University. The successful candidate will contribute to program development, teaching, research, clinical education, and service in the areas of speech, language, and hearing sciences. Additionally, the successful candidate will help the Child Development department develop a minor in Speech and Language Pathology, which will not only serve as the prerequisite package for a Master's in SLP but also prepare the incoming graduate students with a strong foundation in growth and development, early intervention, family theories, and community supports.

DEPARTMENT: The Child Development department offers various programs-- two majors: (1) Child Development and Family Relationships (CDFR) and (2) Liberal Studies Child Development/Elementary Education (LSCE) and four minors: (1) Early Childhood Development, (2) Family Studies, (3) ASL and Special Populations, and (4) American Indian Education. The CDFR has three concentrations- Teaching, Child and Family Services, and Specialized Studies. LSCE is a subject matter- approved program for students entering credential programs. Additionally, Liberal Studies Child Development Special Education Integrated Program (LSCD SPED ITEP) is available to our students, allowing students to complete credentials in 4 years. The department has a strong academic advising program, where students and faculty work closely together; majors individualize their study plans. Our students enrich their learning through engaging in the Child Development Lab (CDL), a NAEYC-accredited preschool. Faculty in Child Development are committed to student-centered learning that integrates theory and research with practical knowledge, analysis, application, and professional knowledge and skills. Student engagement in their learning, appropriate use of technology, use of a broad variety of resources, integration of experiential and service- learning components, and collaboration are hallmarks of our classes. Faculty collaboratively work as a department team, cooperating with the teachers in the Child Development Lab and engaging students in research and department work.

Additional information about the department can be found at https://childdev.humboldt.edu/. For more information about the CDL, visit https://childdev.humboldt.edu/child-development-lab.
