Tenure Track Faculty Position, Gastroenterology - Assistant Professor

Description

The Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board certification or board eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology is required.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching Penn students, residents and fellows and postdoctoral fellows.

Clinical responsibilities may include care that specializes in IBD, motility/physiology, hepatology, advanced endoscopy, and/or general gastroenterology. The selected candidate may be required to provide these services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC), Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH) and/or Penn Medicine at Radnor (PMR).

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include working on research in any field of gastroenterology or hepatology, including liver biology, mucosal biology and immunology, GI cancer, physiology, microbiome and others. The expectation is leading an extramurally funded research program in bench, clinical/translational, or health services research. Research will be a primary focus in this position.

The successful candidate should have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research and teaching. Specifically, candidates must have demonstrated an ability to obtain external funding for their research, including federal sources. This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate basic and translational research within a great university and prominent health system. Selected applicants will join a highly interactive and exciting multidisciplinary academic and clinical environment at the University of Pennsylvania as an integral member of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and will have opportunities to teach in the GI fellowship and internal medicine residency programs at the Perelman School of Medicine.
