Tenure-track Faculty Position in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or Genetics
The Department of Biology at Université Laval is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, externally-funded research program in molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics and to contribute to the recruitment and training of graduate students. In addition, the candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels in molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics.
Position description
- Teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels in cell biology, molecular biology, or genetics;
- Development of an independent and externally-funded research program in molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics;
- Participation in the educational and administrative activities of the Department of Biology, the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Université Laval;
- Participation in external academic activities that contribute to the university’s reputation
Selection criteria
- Hold a Ph.D. in biology or a discipline relevant to the field of molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics. Postdoctoral experience is desirable;
- Proven ability to conduct academic research, demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals in the relevant research field;
- Potential to develop independent and original research in molecular biology, cell biology, or genetics;
- Demonstrated aptitude or potential for university teaching at all three levels, for supervising graduate students, and for pedagogical innovation;
- Ability to communicate and integrate into the institution’s French-speaking environment (within two years);
- Alignment of professional potential with the key competencies required for the professorial role
