Position Overview

The Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering (UT PGE) at UT Austin, a world leader in petroleum engineering research, education, training, and outreach, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Outstanding candidates may also be considered for Associate or Full Professor positions.

A successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop engaging undergraduate and graduate learning environments accommodating diverse student backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Establish externally sponsored research programs.
  • Collaborate with faculty across disciplines.
  • Contribute to service within the university and the engineering profession.

Candidates are encouraged to bring new, complementary ideas and skills to the department’s research programs and engage with industry and government stakeholders. Faculty and students at UT PGE work with state-of-the-art equipment in expanding laboratory and instructional spaces. Interdisciplinary research is promoted through collaboration with other departments within the Cockrell School of Engineering, the Jackson School of Geosciences, and other related colleges and organizations.


Qualifications

  • Required: Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Research areas of interest include:
    • Improved hydrocarbon recovery
    • Unconventional reservoirs
    • Deep-water exploration and production
    • Numerical reservoir simulation
    • Reservoir stimulation
    • Produced water management

  4. Statement of teaching philosophy and experience (limit 2 pages)
  5. Mentoring statement (limit 1 page)
