Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Video and Film Production

The Department of Media and Communication in Trinity Western University’s School of the Arts, Media + Culture invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position beginning August 16, 2026. This faculty member will take a leadership role in developing and teaching our curriculum for video and film production.

The ideal candidate:

  • should possess a Ph.D. or M.F.A. in Media Studies, Communication Studies, Film Studies, Media Arts or a related degree (ABD candidates will be considered)
  • will have professional experience in some kind of video, television, or film-based media industry
  • will have experience teaching media production at a high level
  • is able to teach media theory or film studies courses
  • is comfortable with learning about and using current media technologies and media production techniques

The successful candidate:

  • will be expected to teach in our undergraduate program as well as develop a viable research program (which, at TWU, includes creating artistic work)
  • will build and maintain valuable connections to local media industries
  • will contribute to the program outside the classroom via formal advising of students, helping with program events and outreach, and other initiatives that will help the program to grow and prosper
  • will contribute to the life of the university by attending faculty meetings and potentially participating in university committees
  • will be a committed Christian who can thoughtfully encourage and equip students to think truthfully, act justly, and live faithfully for the good of the world and the glory of God

TWU’s Media and Communication program educates students to be effective and ethical communicators in a wide range of professions. Our curriculum blends academic theory and practical production skills in a variety of media in order to produce well-rounded, big picture thinkers that are capable of being leaders in the workplaces they enter after graduation. We have the opportunity to increase our program’s impact through connections with the social media industry as well as the extensive television and film production work in the Fraser Valley and the greater Vancouver area.

Annual Salary Ranges:
Instructor: $62,872 - $75,637
Assistant Professor: $73,479 - $95,401
Associate Professor: $85,481 - $114,606
