Tenure-track Faculty positions in Mathematics: Computational Modeling and AI 2026-2027

IE University’s School of Science and Technology invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Mathematics: Computational Modeling. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses such as Numerical Methods, Ordinary and Partial Differential Equations, Dynamical Systems, Complex systems, Network theory and Applied Physics.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong research record in a field closely related to: Computational and experimental modeling of physical systems, Differential equations and numerical methods, Physics-informed Neural Networks (PINNs) and AI-driven modeling approaches, Mathematical foundations of AI, Mathematical physics, nonlinear dynamics, and complex systems, Applications in neuroscience, energy systems, climate dynamics, or life sciences.

A doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics, Computational Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred. Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.

Faculty are expected to engage in high-quality research, pursue external funding, and contribute to curriculum development and university service.

Impact Xcelerator Collaboration

We value candidates with the capacity to collaborate in applied research projects led by the Impact Xcelerator at IE School of Science and Technology, specifically in AI for Scientific Discovery, Advanced Simulation for Energy & Sustainability, Robotics & Autonomous Systems, and Health & MedTech Applications.

The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary research initiatives that integrate computational modeling and applied physics expertise to address global challenges will be key to the role’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in Computational Modeling and Applied Physics, including Numerical Methods, Differential Equations, Complex Systems, Dynamical Systems, Network theory and Applied Physics.
  • Conduct high-impact research in areas such as multi-physics simulations, nonlinear dynamics, scientific computing, HPC, control theory, physics-informed neural networks, and computational/experimental modeling of physical systems, while actively securing competitive research funds.
  • Supervise and mentor students across undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs.
  • Collaborate with industry and research partners on innovative projects in robotics, sustainable energy, climate dynamics, and biomedical systems.
  • Play an active role in curriculum development, incorporating emerging trends such as AI for scientific discovery, uncertainty quantification, and advanced simulation technologies.
  • Participate in academic service and contribute to the strategic growth of the School of Science and Technology.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computational Engineering, Physics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is desirable but not mandatory.
