Bewerbungsfrist: 07.05.2026
We are looking for an excellent researcher with great potential to develop an internationally recognized research agenda in the field of Translational Immunology, specifically focused on elucidating the mechanistic role(s) of myeloid cells in the clinical pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases and vasculitides, through insights gained from rare autoimmune and autoinflammatory conditions to common cardiometabolic diseases, such as atherosclerosis. The position aims to bridge preclinical and clinical research in a “bench to bedside and back again” approach and to address the knowledge gap between rare autoimmune disease pathology and common inflammatory cardiovascular pathophysiology by leveraging aspects of macrophage and neutrophil biology (e.g. metabolic remodeling, cytokine signaling) as a unifying mechanistic framework.
The Clinical Division of Rheumatology and Immunology and the Division of Physiology and Pathophysiology, have a longstanding reputation in innovative pre-clinical and clinical research in vasculitides and cardiometabolic disease, respectively, and beyond. Dual affiliation within these divisions provides a rich environment for synergy and interdisciplinary collaboration with basic scientists and clinicians. The university has ample core facility and laboratory infrastructure, access to the Biobank Graz and relevant clinical samples, which support novel and state-of-the-art research.
