The University of Stuttgart with its Faculty Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is seeking to appoint the Tenure Track Professorship (W1) „Intelligent Control Theory for Power Electronic Converter Systems“. The professorship addresses outstanding junior scientists in their early career phase.
The professorship is affiliated to the Institute of Robust Power Semiconductor Systems (ILH) and shall represent the field of Intelligent Control Theory for Power Electronic Converter Systems in academic research and education. In particular, several of the following topical areas shall be covered:

  • Power electronic converter systems for energy technology (including the challenges of integrating renewable energies into the smart grid and applications in the field of PowerToX), for mobility systems (including aerospace) and for automation technology
  • Intelligent control technology for power electronic systems, e.g. model-based or predictive control systems, use of AI methods in control systems, integration into the Internet of Things
  • Circuit topologies for increased efficiency, reliability and robustness of power electronic converter systems
  • Control engineering models of converter system applications such as drive systems
  • Digital twins of power electronic converter systems and the associated applications

In the context of teaching, it is expected to take over the curricular courses in the field of intelligent control theory for power electronic converter systems and power electronics in the basic and advanced courses in German and English. In addition to teaching, active acquisition of third-party funding and the assumption of tasks in academic self-administration are expected.

We are looking for a person with an outstanding track record of high-ranking scientific publications or patents with international visibility.

For a qualitative assessment of your academic accomplishments, we kindly ask you to submit a short description of your three most important scientific achievements, which should be no longer than one page. Conceivable successes are, for example, those in the fields of research, teaching, science and society, knowledge and technology transfer, inventions and patents, software development or spin-offs.

The professorship is part of the Joint Federal Government-Länder Funding Programme for Junior Academics.

The position is a tenure track position leading to an appointment as a W3 professor in case of a positive evaluation. The requirements for employment listed in § 51 Baden-Württemberg university law apply.
