Tenure-Track/Tenure at Assistant/Associate Professor in Psychotherapy
Algoma University is seeking a Tenure-Track/Tenure at Assistant/Associate Professor in Psychotherapy. The position is located in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, within the Psychology Department, with a preferred start date of July 1, 2026 (negotiable).
Qualifications: Candidates must have completed a terminal master's degree or PhD/PsyD in Psychotherapy, Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, or other clinical science discipline. They must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario, the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Candidates should demonstrate an academic record of excellent teaching, clinical supervision, and practice in psychotherapy, with expertise in teaching courses such as empirical foundations of psychotherapy, microskills in psychotherapy, cultural responsiveness, trauma-informed psychotherapy, and professional ethics. Willingness to supervise graduate student research projects is required. Specialized expertise in modalities like DBT, CBT, IFS, or ACT, and knowledge of complex and developmental trauma, is an asset. A relevant academic background, research portfolio, and record of teaching excellence are necessary. Experience with remote/online/hybrid instruction is desirable.
