Tenured or tenure-track Associate or Full Professor in Physical Therapy or Nursing with emphasis on Research - College of Health Professions

Texas State University invites applications for the position of Associate Professor or Professor in the College of Health Professions (CHP). This tenure-track research faculty position is based at the university’s Round Rock Campus (RRC), home to 6 academic units in the College of Health Professions offering degrees in nursing, physical therapy, communication disorders, respiratory care, health informatics and information management, and radiation therapy. The College of Health Professions has two additional academic units located on the San Marcos campus that offer degrees in health administration and medical laboratory science. This 9-month research faculty position will be affiliated with either the St. David’s School of Nursing or the Department of Physical Therapy, or both, depending on the candidate’s discipline and research focus. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

The Department of Physical Therapy offers a CAPTE-accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy program and includes 20 faculty and staff serving over 138 doctoral students. The department is housed in Willow Hall, which is equipped with a state-of-the-art 3,500 square foot Physical Therapy Clinic with a dedicated research space featuring a 10-camera Vicon motion capture system, force plates, and surface EMG. Specialized portable equipment includes a computerized sensor walkway system and attachable 3-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensor system to allow tracking functional movement assessments external to lab spaces. An additional lab includes 921 square feet of dynamic research space with split-belt treadmill and biometric exercise testing equipment.

The St. David’s School of Nursing offers CCNE-accredited undergraduate and graduate programs, including a traditional BSN, an online RN-to-BSN, an MSN in Family Nurse Practitioner, an MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, a Post-Master’s Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and a DNP program launching in Fall of 2026. The school includes over 30 faculty and staff serving over 230 undergraduate and over 100 graduate students across the Round Rock and San Marcos campuses. The Nursing Building features over 5,734 square feet of state-of-the-art simulation and laboratory space with high and low fidelity manikins and video capabilities to support clinical education. The school also includes an additional research suite that can be configured to include a bench lab.

Texas State’s Round Rock Campus is centrally located in a thriving healthcare corridor, offering rich opportunities for collaboration with regional healthcare providers. The university is also partnering with Concept Companies to develop a life sciences incubator on the Round Rock Campus, aimed at advancing research and innovation in the life sciences and medical fields.
