Position Description
The Applied Mathematics area in the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) and the Department of Statistics in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) at Harvard University seek applicants for a tenured position in Applied Mathematics and Statistics in the area of AI for Science. The expected start date is July 1, 2027.
The successful applicant will hold a joint appointment in Applied Mathematics and the Department of Statistics within the interdisciplinary environment of SEAS and FAS. They will advance principled AI grounded in mathematical and statistical theory, emphasizing the development and application of cutting-edge methods that enable and accelerate scientific discovery. Together, these communities are dedicated to training the next generation of scientists and engineers to tackle critical problems and address pressing societal challenges.
Basic Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related discipline.
Additional Qualifications
Demonstrated strong commitment to teaching, advising, and research is desired. Candidates should also evince intellectual leadership and impact on the field and potential for significant contributions to the department, University, and wider scholarly community.
