TES Mail Services Technician

Overview

The Mail Services Technician assist in providing timely and accurate Campus-wide mail services by accepting, sorting, processing, and delivering mail to service the University's students, employees, offices, and campus community.

Temporary Employment Services (TES), a unit of the Auburn University Department of Human Resources, is an in-house support center established to meet the temporary employment needs of the university. TES provides qualified and dedicated temporary employees in a wide variety of occupations to meet the staffing needs throughout the campus. Temporary employees are hired for a variety of reasons with the most common being:

  • Assistance in the place of a regular employee who is absent for a specified period of time
  • Additional assistance during periods of abnormal or peak workloads
  • Assistance with special projects
  • Seasonal work
  • Emergencies

Responsibilities

  • Assist in processing incoming and outgoing University mail by sorting various types of mail and operating a postage meter and other mail processing equipment.
  • Picks and delivers mail along with a prescribed route on the University campus.
  • Drives vehicles on delivery and on routes as needed.
  • Assists students, faculty, or staff with standard mail-related issues such as assigning mailboxes, keys, and cards, collecting and providing information, selling supplies, facilitating student package pickup, and answering common questions.
  • Supports billing information recording to allocate mail charges to departments properly.
  • Completes administrative duties such as maintaining records and forms, labeling mailboxes, and completing documentation of activities.
  • May pick up and deliver mail to the U.S. Postal Service. May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
