Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a Test Analyst to join our Te Tai Matihiko - Digital Solutions Applications Team on a fixed-term, full-time basis until December 2026.

Key responsibilities:

• Assess testing impact and design appropriate test plans, test cases and test data.
• Execute test cases and record actual results against expected outcomes, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Perform hands-on manual testing including functional, regression, integration and UAT testing.
• Execute performance, volume and stress testing.
• Collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including developers, business analysts, and product owners, to ensure quality outcomes.
• Conduct reviews of existing testing processes, tools, and systems, identifying opportunities for improvement and driving implementation of enhancements.
• Assess new technologies and techniques and promote their adoption where benefit can be found.
• Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, efficiency, and effectiveness through automation and tooling.

You will be a motivated, team-focused tester who plans work effectively, communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, and is committed to continuous learning.

Key requirements:

• Aptitude for working with complex digital systems and business processes.
• Proven understanding of testing disciplines and methodologies.
• Proven knowledge and hands-on testing experience of unit, release, integration, regression, end to end and UAT testing.
• Experience with relational database-based query tools, e.g. SQL.
• A collaborative, agile mindset, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Hands-on experience with using automation tools such as Postman, Playwright.
• Commitment to ongoing learning.
• Ability to work under pressure and adjust to shifting priorities.

It’s desirable that you also bring:

• Proven working experience with a variety of tools that support test automation.
• Hands-on experience with Postman for API testing and API Automation.
• ISTQB Foundation certification.
• An understanding of the tertiary education sector.
• Familiarity with the operations of a Student Administration System.
